Latina singer Selena Quintanilla-Pérez, known as “Selena” was an emerging star when she was shot by the founder of her fan club, Yolanda Saldivar. She was merely 23 years old. Selena was friends with Saldivar. After she started the fan club he became her assistant and then the manager of her clothing boutique.
Selena discovered that Saldivar had embezzled some money and therefore she fired him. After a few days, she agreed to meet him at a Day’s Inn for retrieving some financial records where she was shot dead. It was at this place Saldivar shot Selena.
Since celebrities are high profile people, it is quite common for people to become obsessed with them. They become easy targets because their whereabouts are always being published by the media.
