2. Andrés Escobar
Andrés Escobar was a celebrated Colombian soccer player whose one mistake cost him his life. In 1994, while playing an extremely important World Cup match against the United States when he accidentally scored a goal for his own team. This led to the disqualification of the team from the tournament. Five days later, the soccer player was approached by a group of people who shot him and ultimately killed him. These men were extremely angry with Escobar for scoring that goal. They murdered him as a punishment for costing their country the most coveted World Cup.
