In 1980, while he was travelling from NYC to Tokyo, he carried with himself a pound of marijuana which according to him was too good to be flushed down the toilet. When he arrived, Japanese officials found the substance and he had to spend 10 days in prison before he got deported. He has even been arrested for possessing pot four times.
